• Leather scraps
•  Ruler
•  Needle
• Embroidery floss (any color will do)
• Boxcutter
• Leather hole punch

Step-By-Step Instructions for a Beautiful DIY Summer Basket Bag

1. Cut your leather scraps using a boxcutter to the length you would like your bag handle or handles to be. For a more tote-inspired look, consider cutting them a bit longer. For a final result that resembles more of a handbag, stay on the shorter side.
2. Punch two or three holes on each end of the leather straps as connection points.
3. Decide where you want your handles located on the basket. Use a ruler to make sure they are evenly positioned on both sides.
4.  Knot a length of embroidery floss through a needle. Pick a color that stands out or blends in seamlessly with the design of the basket.
5. Thread the embroidery floss through the basket and leather strap hole several times (4 to 5 usually works) to create a secure handle.
6.  Repeat step 5 for every hole punched in the leather handle.
7. Triple knot the thread inside the basket before cutting the needle loose.
8. Once all of the handles are secure, your bag is ready to carry!
