Did you know September is National Sewing Month? It originated during Ronald Regan’s tenure as president when he declared September National Sewing Month to celebrate those who sew at home. 

National Sewing Month celebrates and recognizes the creative joy and self-expression of sewing that millions do year-round. History of National Sewing Month

In September 1982, the American Home Sewing and Craft Organization, an industry and trade association supporting the sewing and craft industries, requested President Regan proclaim September as National Sewing Month. 

From Betsy Ross with the American flag to humble sewers who have kept American families in mended and tailored clothes to the enthusiastic modern sewing hobbyist, the skill of sewing has a history of importance in the nation.
